Welcome back for a seventh VIHL season

Postby VIHL_ADMIN » Fri Jan 29, 2010 12:27 am

Hello and welcome back to another summer with the Vancouver Inline Hockey League (VIHL) !!

The VIHL is entering its 7th season and we are now accepting registrations for the 2010 season. We had 94 teams last year and are expecting to have at least that for this coming season (we are just trying to determine if there is any additional rink time in order to accomodate some more teams). You can go onto the website at http://www.vihl.net for more information.

Hopefully everyone had a good offseason and kept busy and active. Once again, we've been busy planning for the upcoming season...

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR THE 2010 SEASON....

- Most of the VIHL team that you came to know and love last season will be back this season.

- Due to uncertainity around when Trout Lake and Killarney will be ready for public use after the Olympics, we will be trying to secure some additional time at other rinks (including looking at expanding into Richmond). We will be in contact with the City of Vancouver on a regular basis to find out the estimated dates that the rinks will be available. There is a possibility that Killarney rink may be available this summer so that would allow us to accomodate more teams in the Vancouver region. Once we know this information, we will be able to better determine the maximum number of teams that we can accomodate this season and this information will be passed along to you.

- **NEW** We will be implementing Pointstreak's online registration and payment system this season. This will provide the following:

Better integration with Pointstreak stats. You can register and be placed onto a team in Pointstreak Stats
Tools provided to team reps to distribute and track team payments
Communication tools to remind players they owe money
Players can pay their balance conveniently online (Visa, MC, debit) for the second installment (the deposit and first installment will still be paid by cash or cheque)

- Every player will have access to an improved team locker room. The team locker room allows you to:

Manage your roster for each game
Vote for 3 stars of the game
Send Email or SMS remainders about upcoming games
    Track game attendance
    Flag your water/beer boy
    Active spares or goalies
Download your team schedule and organize team events
    Create and display lineups
    View head to head stats
    Post messages
    Upload pictures

- **NEW** Co-ed only division to be based out of Richmond where each team has to have at least 6 girls and there has to be at least 2 girls on the floor at all times. We would be aiming for at least 4 teams in this division. Strong players will either not be allowed to play or will be restricted.

- **NEW** Teams can register to have their home games be based out of Richmond or Delta. We are looking to secure some time in each city as an alternative for some teams

- **NEW** Equip more scorekeepers with laptops and modems so that stats can be uploaded quicker.

- **NEW** Via a new company, Reactivesports.ca (which will be launching in a couple weeks), teams will be able to order custom jerseys and clothing. Stay tuned for more information on product and pricing details.

2010 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Go to http://www.vihl.net/regsystem/ to register. The player registration system is still being implemented but you can go ahead and register your team at this point.

Registration information is on the website http://www.vihl.net/details.php, but here are a few key points...

**Early bird deadline for online registration is February 20 and the pricing is $2950 (incl GST) for Silver and Gold teams and $2850 (incl GST) for Bronze I teams and $2800 (incl GST) for all other teams (including the $200 refundable suspension deposit). Deposit is $500 like past years and will be due by February 28.

**Once again, due to the lack of space on all of the floors, returning teams will have priority registration until February 20 (with the $500 deposit being due by February 28) and new teams will be put on a waiting list. After this date, new teams will be allowed to register and returning teams won't be guaranteed a spot . New teams will still be allowed to register and pay their deposit before this date in order to qualify for the early bird incentive, but nothing will be processed until this date. However, if we confirm that there is room for a new team prior to February 20, we will let that new team register earlier.

**Individuals just pay a $15 fee for the player draft and other administrative items. Once they get on a team, they pay the team captain the rest of the registration fee (approx $275).

**Once again you can receive $50 off your fee for every new team you bring into the league.

**The captains meeting will be held sometime during the last weekend of March, with the player draft to also be held sometime that week.

So here is what you get with your registration...

**18 games (16 regular season and 2 exhibition games) + at least one guaranteed playoff game (most teams will have at least 2)
**3-on-3 OT with shootout during the regular season (and extended sudden death in the playoffs)
**3 regions of play with championship cups and medals awarded to the winners of every tier
**At least 12 tiers of play
**A scorekeeper and 2 referees provided at every game
**Up-to-date and thorough stats on Pointstreak
**NEW Access to the new pointstreak registration and payment system and improved team locker room
**Game MVP's, individual awards and allstar game/skills competition for every tier
**Team Photos and random action shots
**Access to discounts from sponsors
**Access to league social events (let us know if you have any ideas)

We are always looking for new scorekeepers and referees (http://www.vihl.net/refregister.php). So let us know if you or anyone you know is interested in these roles.

Also, let us know if you are associated with any company that would be interested in a sponsorship arrangement with the league

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you soon and seeing you in the coming months. Feel free to e-mail us if you have any questions or feedback. You can also post up messages on the messageboard.
