Are you tired of always having to travel out of town just to play in an inline hockey league? Because we were…
Travel, among other factors, is the main inspiration behind the VIHL. Having played inline hockey for a number of years, the organizers behind the VIHL recognize the desires and expectations from the average player in the league. This includes, detailed and up-to-date team and player statistics and games that are
closer to home.
So whether you are playing in any of our three regions (Vancouver, North Vancouver and Burnaby), the VIHL has what you need…
So why join the VIHL? What makes us different?
- Games that are closer to where you live.
- 3 Regions of play (Vancouver, Burnaby and North Vancouver).
Inter-regional play means you get to play against more teams. Most of
the games will be played against the teams in your tier and in your
region. However, some of the games will be played against teams in
other regions of the equivalent tier. This also means that there will be regional AND overall champions for each tier.
- Multiple Tiers to cater to varied skill levels
- More thorough and up-to-date stats using Pointstreak. Stats will be updated within 48 hours of your game.
- Scorekeepers provided for every game so that stats are as accurate as possible.
- Game MVP's posted on the website for every game. MVP votes influence allstar and award candidates
- Action packed allstar day with a skills competition and allstar game for every skill level. Plus a beer garden and barbeque.
- Individual awards for every tier (including MVP, Most Goals, Most points, Best Goalie, Best Defenseman and Most Sportsmanlike)
- Associated with the British Columbia Inline Hockey Association (BCIHA), meaning teams can take part in different tournaments.
- Everyone is guaranteed to make the playoffs and the format will be either double knockout or best of 3 series depending on the tier.
- 3 on 3 overtime format followed by a shootout will bring excitement as teams
go for the extra point.
- Referees will receive on-floor training under the BCIHA, leading to higher quality refereeing and better calls.
- More social gatherings during the season in order to give people a chance to hang out with other
players.
- ID sheets and stickers to verify player eligibility
